Like any child, Walmart trips meant we could go to the toy section and see all the new offerings. My sister and I never missed a chance to look at all the beautiful Barbie dolls. When we were finished, my sister would grumble as I would drag her from the Barbie aisle at Walmart, to the sewing machines just to ogle at them. I knew what they could do even then and what they were capable of. I ended up getting a small toy machine that I would make things for my dolls on. However, once the machine gave me problems, it was thrown into the toybox never to be seen again. After that, I thought I needed to be able to draw to be a fashion designer, so I pursued a career in styling instead. Although my journey is unique to me, and I appreciate my own path, sometimes I wish I had someone to tell me that that was not true. In 2020, I decided to no longer purchase new clothes for myself, but make them instead. What I found wasn't just a new way to make income or a way to create my dream wardrobe, but it was like awakening something deep inside of me that was begging to be relit. Sewing just made sense. Putting the pattern pieces together all clicked. It felt as natural as breathing. I knew right away that this is what I was born to do.
The Name
Calluna and Erica are both types of heather; two plants from the same family. Erica is my given name, and when I was building my brand, I wanted something that felt connected to me but not too on-the-nose.
Calluna offered the perfect balance: it ties back to my name in a subtle way, while bringing its own softness and elegance.
It represents the romantic, refined spirit I pour into every design.

My Dream
I dream of dressing women of every body type, every background, and making them feel on top of the world. Clothes change people. It changed Cinderella. It creates controversy. It makes a statement and I want to be a part of the statement someone makes when they present themselves to the world. From pageantry and formal events to red carpets and stage costumes, I want to make others truly feel seen, and not just on the outside, but who they are on the inside, too. This life is fleeting, show them who you are and make your statement.
